evepostappleOnce upon a time, there was a woman named Eve, who, unable to resist the luring temptation of a fragrant orchard, took a bite of forbidden fruit from the tree of knowledge. Perhaps Eve was bored. Perhaps she was ovulating and had a desperate craving for something sweet. Perhaps life in the little garden was becoming stressful or claustrophobic. Perhaps she felt out of control or lacked passion in her life and in order to numb her emotions or soothe herself from Adam's lack of attention or his ambivalence in starting a family, she chose to indulge. Perhaps Eve was an emotional eater. But as Eve soon discovered, neither the bite, nor the whole fruit fulfilled her as she had hoped. Not only did she realize she was naked but that she had contempt for the way she looked. Perhaps Eve suffered with body dismorphia. Eve tried to stop eating the forbidden fruit and eventually avoided eating altogether but that didn't work and she ended up eating until she could no longer breathe. The point of this is that Eve lost her intuitive ability to nourish herself. She no longer had balance in her life and was willing to do any and everything to get that back.

Maybe Eve didn't exist. Maybe the stories that were told are not as important as the stories we tell ourselves.

This blog is dedicated to creating new stories based on the philosophies of whole body nutrition, self-love, intuition, fitness and yoga.

In my journey I have sought to uncover the knowledge and balance which have brought me to a greater awareness of health and this is what I wish to share with you.

    Zain’s Superfood Milkshake Smoothies
***featuring Zain Sarsaswati Jamal Superfoods***

Wanna know my favourite thing about smoothies?  Smoothies are just a healthy word for MILKSHAKES it’s just that no one wants to say this out loud because we are all ‘supposed’ to like ‘healthy things.’
Well here’s me screaming it from the top of a mountain.  I LOVE milkshakes (dairy-free in my case), they definitely bring all the boys to the yard, and you better believe, my smoothies taste like milkshakes they are not those nasty watered down, 1 scoop of protein in a plastic cup shaken with water…I mean, I don’t even know what that s*&^ is.
For these smoothies, I am using my own line of incredible, powerful superfood tinctures…to find out more click here.
*Note: you do not need to include the superfoods to enjoy these recipes, it just increases their power and potency.

Why I Start My Day With Warm Water & Lemon
I had no idea how beneficial this was for me growing up but everyday, like clockwork, mom would pour out a cup of hot water and squeeze some fresh lemon into the cup.
Usually in a mad hurry to get through breakfast so I could get outside, would gulp it down, scarf my processed breakfast (we lived in blissful ignorance around breakfast cereals, lucky me) and then grab my bike and I was gone.
Fast forward 20 something years to now where I, now knowingly, live my life according to the principles of Ayurveda and yoga that my family instilled in me at a young age.
So why do I think drinking this is a big deal? In a nutshell:
It raises your PH levels so from acidic to a more alkaline internal environment - Disease cannot live in an alkaline environment as it needs acidity to thrive.  When we sleep, our bodies become acidic so the simple act of drinking water & lemon in the morning balances the body.
Empowers your immune & nervous system - Lemons are rich in potassium and vitamin C stimulating your neuro-impulses and strengthening white blood cells.
Improves digestion by removing toxins from the digestive system and promotes bile production in the liver.
Aids in weight loss again due to keeping the body in an alkaline environment.  Lemon is also a craving buster.
Purifies the body by eliminating toxins, clears the liver and the skin.
Calms you with a high level of Vitamin C first thing in the morning.

    Zain’s Liver Detox Juice
This is one of my all time favourite combinations for liver and organ detox, blood purification and for cleansing the endocrine system.
Not only are roots like ginger and beets in season right now, but pink grapefruit is starting to appear at the local markets making this the perfect time to enjoy this delicious combination.
*Note, when juicing, its very important to choose ORGANIC ingredients and to consume the juice right away.  It begins to lose its nutrient potency rather quickly after juiced.
Ingredients:
4-5 Organic Beets (raw)
2” Fresh Ginger
11/2 Pink Grapefruit
11/2 Lemon
30-50 Drops Milk Thistle Tincture
Directions:
1. Juice all ingredients in your juicer and drink immediately. Do not add water.
